Winterwood is a fun book that mixes pirate adventures with magic and an epic story line. I enjoyed Ross’ character and the inventive world that Jacey Bedford created. The secondary characters, especially Mr. Corwen, David, and Hookey were all satisfying and well-developed. I felt that the inclusion of Ross’ dead husband’s ghost was fun and helped create romantic conflict. I liked the romantic aspects of the book – they were well-balanced and did not overwhelm the plot or action.
All in all, I liked the book and will be reading the next one when it comes out.
