With great burrito comes great responsibility. Pete's food truck at the University of New Mexico isn't going well. Seniors dare freshman to eat his burritos. Frats use them for pledges and pranks. Rumors fly around campus that they are chupacabra ground up with rat. Pete needs a change, and it comes in the form of a physics experiment gone awry. After being sucked into the past, he stumbles across an ingredient that goes great in one of his creations. First, there was Marty McFly. Then there was Bill and Ted. And now Pete-

It is with great regret that I announce that I did not like Time Burrito by Aaron Frale.

I very much wanted to like it, as I do like silly things from time to time. I love Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett, Christopher Moore, etc. Perhaps it was just my mood while reading this, but I couldn’t like it. The main character is a caricature of a bumbling fool, and that may have started my dislike.

To briefly summarize: A broke burrito vendor gets sent back in time with a lab assistant. The lab assistant was helping a professor with time experiments and things go awry (ending in the professor’s death). The lab assistant is super hot and snotty. They go back to caveman times, fix the time machine, and then zap back to present day where history is significantly altered.

About this time I threw in the towel. There was nothing likable about either character at this point. One is a complete idiot and the other is manipulative and bratty. Despite having a silly premise, the book was not funny. It was too serious for a title so ludicrous. Did not finish.
