Adesina was trained from childhood to serve her land as a warrior and a spy. When she is selected to combat a group of seditious magic users, she must summon all of her talents--some of which have been buried in the deepest part of her.
This book was fun in a lot of ways, but didn’t pull me in as much as I’d hoped. I’d finished the book about two months before writing this review, and I actually had to read quite a bit about it before it triggered memories of what happened in the plot and who the characters were.
I enjoyed Adesina as a character – she was raised to be the perfect assassin, and was sent on assignment. The assignment culminated in the shattering of her beliefs and all that she thought she knew. I enjoyed the romantic parts of the book, and the discovering of Adesina’s true family and the emergence of her enlightenment about the world.
